Nail Polish #AtoZChallenge

...nail polish.  Polishing my nails is one of my favorite pastimes.  I used to polish my nails all the time, and then I had kids, and the hobby took a backseat for many years.  It's only recently that I've picked it back up.  After my ankle surgeries, when I was non-weight bearing and in bed most of the time, I found that polishing my nails made me feel good about myself even if I hadn't showered for days and was sporting yoga pants and a sports bra.

I actually find polishing my nails very relaxing, so as long as I have the time, I change my polish up about twice a week.  My favorite colors to wear are corally pinks and dark blues.

Do you enjoy polishing your nails?  If so, what are your favorite polish colors to wear?

If you're not a nail polish lover, if there something you do, cosmetically, that gives you a little pick me up?  Facials, hot shaves, hair coloring, etc?

  2. I worked onstage a lot and always polished my nails. I liked reds and ones with actual glitter in them. Yup, I was a glamour-puss! Now, I'm the sweat pants and T-shirt creature with her hair always in a scrunchy! A shower? What's that? LOL

  3. Yes I too used to polish my nails and my favourites were usually purples and pinks and I loved glittery touches as well - maybe I will try to do my nails this weekend and surprise everyone!!

  4. I use nail polish to paint my model cars. Maybe sometimes I paint a nail or two just to be edgy. Oh, and I'm rather fond of baths. With bath oils. A guy's gotta feel fresh, no?

  5. I can't wear nail polish on my fingers because of my day job, but I do enjoy painting my toenails.

  6. I really am one of the most untalented people in the world. I can't even paint my own nails. How pitiful is that. Don't get me wrong, I love having my nails painted (the finished job), I'm not one of those ladies who likes relaxing at the spa and getting a mani/pedi. In fact I actually dread it. It takes like two and a half hours for both and all I do is sit there feeling guilty, thinking about how much work I could accomplish in two and a half hours. The problem is, I truly am not gifted in the art/painting department. I mean, if you saw a hand that I attempted to manicure you would think that a five year old child did it. I am not exaggerating. I'm left handed and literally cannot do anything with my right hand, with the exception now of semi typing text messages with one finger and a thumb, a talent that was born of necessity. I can't even print my first name with my right hand nor can I hold a fork to feed myself. So, I sure as heck can't paint the left nails on my left hand without leaving posh all the way up my fingers. I can, however paint the nails on my right hand with my left hand. I will however, take a relaxing break at a spa for a massage. That I can justify, because I leave feeling less anxious. I always leave a nail spa feeling more anxious and guilty for wasting so much time. I just wish I knew how to paint my own dang nails and that would solve the problem. I've tried everything, even the nail polish that they say "anyone can use, even those who can't even paint by numbers." Nope, not me. Some of us just have to accept that we don't have certain very basic talents.

    1. It took me years of practice to be able to polish with my non-dominant hand. One trick I've learned...get a small brush (I use a $1 ELF concealer brush you get from the drug store) and dip it in acetone to help clean up all the polish you get on your skin and cuticles. It makes a world of difference!

  7. Shhh. I don't have any nails to polish, but I'm not girlie enough or coordinated to pull that off. :)

My mom and I color each others hair. I always feel better when I'm all brunette again, no grey!
