Celebrate The Small Things -- August 19

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  The brainchild of ViklitCelebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

Today I'm celebrating...

  • my baby girl turned Sweet Sixteen! I can't believe how grown up she is already...seems like just yesterday that she was so itty bitty and fit perfectly in my arms.
  • my husband and kids! Having the party last weekend took a lot out of me, even thought I purposely tried to take it easy! I guess I did more than my body could handle, and I ended up pretty achy on Sunday and Monday. If it wasn't for my hubby and kids, things wouldn't have gotten done. They all helped with set up, clean up, food prep, taking care of Emmie (our dog and my bestie), and more stuff that I'm sure I just can't remember. That's one nice thing about having older kiddos...they can help!
  • acupuncture... Having an acupuncture treatment on Tuesday really helped my body recover from the weekend. I really love acupuncture...a lot. I've blogged about it many, many times. For anyone interested in reading more about my acupuncture adventures, just type 'acupuncture' in the search bar on the right.
  • Jim Gaffigan...When I'm not feeling well, I like to watch funny stuff on tv to help myself feel better. Gaffigan is, by far, my favorite comedian, and Netflix now has another two specials of his available to watch. If you are in need of a good laugh, check him out! For anyone who doesn't have Netflix, I will link his website here.

Celebrate The Small Things - July 8

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  The brainchild of ViklitCelebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

Today I'm celebrating...

  • A visit from my brother! He makes me laugh...a lot :) I got to see him and his family a couple of weeks ago when he drove from Nebraska to visit with my parents in Delaware for a week. My husband drove me and the kids to DE so we could see them for a few days, and while we were there, two of my aunts and my cousin and her kids came too. It was like a little mini family reunion.

  • Being first in line at the gas station to get my emissions test done for my daughter's car. In total, I spent about 30 minutes getting that done. Not too bad! It certainly beats the two hours and forty five minutes I spent at the DMV registering and titling it! grrrrr

  • My acupuncturist. My hands have been hurting a lot over the past few weeks and my last two acupuncture treatments have helped a bunch. I'm hoping that after another treatment next week, the arthritis that has been flaring will finally calm down. (This is part of the reason why I have yet to post about my facet joint shots...waiting for the hands to feel better so I don't have to do the two-finger-pecking-routine on the keyboard).

  • Our new car! Our 2003 Ford Taurus finally died, so we picked up a 2015 Prius with only 7,000 miles on it...it was a pretty good deal. For those who have not been in, or drove a Prius before...they are so weird! You push a power button to turn the car on, a parking button to put it in park, and it barely makes any noise at all while it sits idle. It's very strange and different, but in a good way. Let's hope that my husband gets a good long time out of this car and doesn't kill it!

  • Some beautiful local views. I dropped off my daughter to paintball the other day, and this was the view...

Celebrate The Small Things 5/20/2016

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  The brainchild of ViklitCelebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

Today I'm celebrating having a very good Thursday. After having a very relaxing acupuncture session in the morning, I treated myself to a Starbucks Mocha Latte and some vanilla bean scones...yummy! On my way home from my treats, my husband texted me that he wanted some Red Robin for dinner. A very out of the blue request, but that meant that I didn't have to cook or figure out dinner...score! So after some phone calls, we met with my in-laws and my bff and his boys for dinner. Spending time with people I love and care about...that's just the best.

Also, yesterday was the only day the sun decided to come out and stay...it was a pretty nice day!

Sidenote:  I got an instagram! If anyone is looking for more pictures of Emmie, head on over there and give me a follow @thecyborgmom

I'm hoping to work on my facet joint shots update this weekend...it should be posted next week. Thanks to all for the kind words, good vibes, and prayers!

Quiet Moments #AtoZChallenge

...quiet moments.  Those small, peaceful, quiet moments shared with our loved ones.

We were married at the end of November, and it was about 40 degrees out.  I was freezing!  With our wedding party in tow, we shot a bunch of pictures on the college campus where my husband and I met.  This picture was a candid shot that our photographer took while we were in between shots.  It is one of my favorites.

Do you have a quiet moment that is etched in your memory?

Grandparents #AtoZChallenge

...grandparents. I was lucky enough to have my maternal grandparents live until they were 94 (my grandpa) and 92 (my grandma). I have so many wonderful memories of them both and feel so blessed that they were able to see me get married and meet their great-grandchildren. Just thinking of them brings a smile to my face. Here are some of my favorite photos of them...

Celebrate The Small Things -- Feb 6

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.  I am thrilled to co-host this wonderful blog!

This week I'm celebrating:
  • The families and individuals that have made the difficult decision to have their bodies, or the bodies of loved ones, donated to science.  I joked around on facebook this week that I'm part zombie because I have cadaver bone in my right ankle (from my last procedure--subtalar fusion), but the reality is that without those people making the sacrifice, I wouldn't have been able to have my surgery.  And this surgery should, hopefully, help me walk with less pain and improve the quality of my life.  I am very grateful for my "zombie" parts!
  • If you're paying attention...this makes me a Zombie Cyborg...so that's cool :)
  • Getting my new cast on.  While it sucks to have a cast, this begins the 6 week NWB (non-weight bearing) part of my recovery.  Let the countdown begin!
  • My niece, Josephine, who thinks my cast is awesome because, you know, it's purple.  And purple is her favorite.
  • My kiddies, who have been sick over the last couple of weeks.  Last week I had my daughter home and this week it was my son's turn.  Even though they were sick and feeling icky, they still managed to help their old mom out...I love them to bits!!!
  • My mommy...who sent me a get well card that truly brightened my day...thanks mom!  I love you and wished you lived closer!

Celebrate The Small Things -- Jan 2

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

I'm celebrating the most wonderful "small" things in my life...my kiddos!  They both had two whole weeks off for Christmas vacation, along with my husband, so we've all enjoyed spending time as a family.  It's not all peaches and cream, living with a teen and a pre-teen, but they are the loves of my life and I love having these moments with them.

Celebrate The Small Things -- Dec 26

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

I'm celebrating a successful Chrismas!  We had dinner for 17 people (including my family of four), which was the biggest crowd I've ever had for the holidays.  My wonderful, amazing, and handsome husband is the best person ever...he did so much of the work, as my hand is still too crapped to cut and dice stuff.  I mostly supervised and seasoned when necessary.  Thank you, my love, for all you do!

I hope everyone else had an enjoyable holiday, whatever it is you celebrate.  I feel so very grateful to have friends and family around to share these special times with.  Here's to a great 2015!

Celebrate The Small Things -- Oct 10

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

This week I'm celebrating Skype.  I got to Skype chat with my brother yesterday and witness my niece farting on my brother...then she giggled and told my brother, "I tooted on you!".  Priceless :)

Happy Weekend!

Do you Skype chat with family?  Or use Facetime or Oovoo?

Celebrate The Small Things -- Sept 19

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

This week I'm celebrating not getting to second base with the TSA on my flight home!  It's a miracle!  The nice thing about flying out of (or into) bigger airports is that they have those x-ray machines.  The x-ray machine means less of a chance that I get intimate with the TSA, but it does mean that they get to see me naked in the machine LOL.

I'm also celebrating my bed.  After sleeping on an air mattress for a week it was really nice to sleep in my own bed last night.

And last, but not least, I'm celebrating my husband and kiddos.  I've missed them so much!  It's good to be home :)

Happy Weekend!

Celebrate The Small Things --September 12

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

This week I'm celebrating not getting to second base with the TSA on my flight out to visit with my brother!  Fingers crossed that they don't molest me on the way back either.

Also, my brother is coming back from his trip even earlier than the original earlier-ness that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago.  So I'll see him tomorrow night!  So happy about this!

And the two best small things to celebrate...my adorable niece and nephew.  I just want to squeeze them to bits :)  If I was at all tech savvy I'd insert a picture now so you can see for yourself just how cute they are...but I have no idea how to do that with my Kindle, so you'll just have to imagine the cuteness.

Please don't be offended if I don't respond or blog hop this weekend...I'll have to catch up next week when I get home!  Vacation, and the chicklets, call...

Happy Weekend!

Celebrate The Small Things -- June 20

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

This week I'm celebrating having my brother and his family over for the week.  My little bro lives several states away, which equates to a 20 hour car ride, so we don't get to see each other too often.  I'm loving having him here and visiting with my adorable niece and nephew...they are too cute!

Below is a pic of my son and my nephew watching tv together...they look the same :)

I'm also celebrating good medicine.  My arthritis has been going crazy the past couple of weeks and so I've been taking my newest pain medicine, ConZip (extended release Tramadol), almost every day.  It has really helped take the edge off.

Also celebrating my orthotics...I think they may be helping a bit and I'll take anything I can get!

My brother just reminded me...celebrating old school music that makes you dance in your car like a crazy person.  We heard "The Humpty Dance" twice in three days!  Woot!  Special thanks to Sirius XM radio's 90's on 9!

What are you celebrating?

Celebrate The Small Things -- June 13

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

This week I'm celebrating the fact that I don't have to commute for work.  Twice this week I've commuted from a few towns away and it's taken me over an hour to do a 20 minute ride home and a 30 minute ride home.  If I had to deal with that kind of traffic everyday I'd be a very grumpy person!  I've been a stay at home mom since my daughter was born and am very thankful that I am blessed with that opportunity.  While I have gone a bit crazy at times being a SAHM, I'd be even crazier if I was a commuter!

I'm also celebrating my brother coming to visit this week coming up.  He lives many states away, so I don't get to see him too often.  Can't wait to see him and his family!

Happy Friday the 13th...13 is a lucky number for my family, so I think I'll celebrate that too :)

Celebrate The Small Things -- June 6

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

This week I'm celebrating my in-laws and all of my husband's extended family and good friends.  I am so lucky to have married into an incredible group of people who are kind and generous to me and are great role models for my children.  Having spent last weekend with most of my in-laws, I have to say that it's never something that I don't look forward to.  I may get anxiety, but that has nothing to do with the company I'm keeping...but more to do with how I'm feeling about my medical problems or personal stuff going on with me.  I'm so very blessed to have such wonderful people in my life and in the lives of my children.

Also, I'm celebrating Denino's pizza.  Pizza is my favorite food, and Denino's is my most favorite pizza.  Visiting my old neighborhood last weekend allowed me the chance to enjoy a few slices of heaven :)  Thanks to my hubs for picking it up for me!

Celebrate The Small Things -- May 16

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

This week I'm celebrating my grandma.  It's been a few years now since she's passed, but I have things of hers that remind me of her.  The pictures that I took for my post on Wednesday were taken on the chair of hers that sits in my bedroom.  My daughter went to her 8th grade dance a couple of weeks ago and she and her friends were checking themselves out in the mirror that hangs in my living room that once hung in my grandmother's "parlor".  I even have my grandma's sugar shaker that we used the other day to dust some powdered sugar onto our french toast.

I love you grandma!  I'm so happy to have so many reminders of you in my life!

What are you celebrating?
