Celebrate The Small Things -- June 27

It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!  Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big or small it is.

This week I'm celebrating doing normal things...like washing dishes and loading the dishwasher, doing laundry, vacuuming, cooking, and other various house chores.  I know this may seem like weird things to be celebrating, but over the past few days I've been able to do more than I have in a while.  With all my post-op ankle problems, doing "normal" things, like housework, makes me feel useful.  It's easy to sink into depression when you are in pain...and when you can't do the things you normally do, the depression just gets worse.  I've felt very useless lately (despite my husband assuring me I'm not), and this week was a little boost of happy for me.

Let's all pray that this is the beginning of more normal days ahead and not just a fluke!

What are you celebrating?

  1. I think celebrating the normal and the mundane is perfect. No matter what you do, my grandmother always said to take pride in doing it well. Here's to that great clean house. :-)

  2. It's easy to take things for granted sometimes and it's posts like these that makes you realize that normalcy is something that should be celebrated too. Thanks for the reminder! I'm glad to hear things are going good with you. Have a great weekend!

    1. I agree--it is easy to take the small things for granted...even normalcy. Luckily we have a bloghop to celebrate all those little things!

  3. It is funny that we don't really appreciate being able to do things until we can't do them. I know after our house flooded and we had to rebuild, I wanted nothing more than to be able to do laundry in my own washer and dryer. Now I HATE washing and drying clothes!

    1. the washer/dryer is something that most of us take for granted...until one of them breaks...then it seems like the laundry multiplies!

  5. I'm so happy to hear your ankle's doing better and you're pleased with all you've accomplished. I guess if I add cooking and some housework to my list of accomplishments, in addition to my snail-slow revising, I haven't done too badly either. Have a good weekend! :)

    1. Thanks Lexa! Housework and cooking can definitely be added as accomplishments! They take up so much time...ugh!
