It's Friday and I'm Celebrating The Small Things!
Celebrate
The Small Things is a weekly celebration where some bloggers have
decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big
or small it is.
This
week I'm celebrating my grandma. It's been a few years now since she's passed, but I have things of hers that remind me of her. The pictures that I took for my post on Wednesday were taken on the chair of hers that sits in my bedroom. My daughter went to her 8th grade dance a couple of weeks ago and she and her friends were checking themselves out in the mirror that hangs in my living room that once hung in my grandmother's "parlor". I even have my grandma's sugar shaker that we used the other day to dust some powdered sugar onto our french toast.
I love you grandma! I'm so happy to have so many reminders of you in my life!

I'm celebrating my very first grand-baby!! I have a few things around the house of my grandmother's that bring back great memories and I cherish them.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Congratulations! My grandmother always said that there was something special about being a grandma...she said that you love your kids, but the love you have for your grandkids was something even more :)
DeleteGreat news to hear you are going to co-host this bloghop. It's always good to have another "borg" around.
ReplyDeleteA fellow "borg"...we're like long lost cousins! LOL
DeleteHow wonderful to celebrate memories of your grandmother! I love that. I have a tea cup and a roasting pan from my grandma, along with a batch of stories in my head that she used to tell me from her life. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have things of theirs to remind you here and there, isn't it? :)
DeleteThat is so sweet! It's fantastic when the people we love live on through our memories, stories and little reminders of them in everyday life. Here's to your Grandma!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so much for being a co-host!
I think about my grandma often...so many great memories. Thanks for he visit Beverly!
DeleteI love having special reminders of people like this. A lovely tribute to your Grandma.
ReplyDeleteThanks for co-hosting our hop too :)
I'm excited about co-hosting! This is such a great bloghop and Vik shouldn't have to do it all on her own...the list is growing!
DeleteAww so sweet! I think it's fantastic you have the mirror that hung in her parlor and now two generations later, it's sill being used. Now I'm thinking and smiling at memories of my own grandmother. :)

ReplyDeleteyes it is!
DeleteMy favorite grandmother died when I was 18. My maternal grandmother is 93 and still kicking. She lives in an assisted living facility with my grandfather.
ReplyDeleteHugs and chocolate!
I was lucky enough to have my maternal grandparents live until their 90's. Sorry you lost your one grandmother so young. I lost my nana when I was in high school...I wish I would have known her better.
DeleteSuch a wonderful way to celebrate the memory of your grandmother. I have lots of things from both of mine, and everytime I use them, I am reminded of all the good times we had. Their love remains with us.
Delete"Their love remains with us"...so true :)
DeleteSo glad you're helping keep this bloghop going. I went to a fab gig last night, Rachel Ries, and she sang a lovely song dedidcated to her grandmother. It's on YouTube and is called Willow.
ReplyDeleteI guess grandmother's are a hot topic this week!
DeleteI'm celebrating being home. Spent three days in the hospital for my asthma this week. Not fun. Good to be in my own bed, surrounded by my own stuff.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of precious heirlooms from both my grandmothers. I think it's wonderful to pass those items on, and teach their value (even if it isn't monetary) to our children.
