An A to Z Challenge from the point
of view of the newest member of the family...Emmie is a 4-ish year
old pit bull mix that we rescued on March 20, 2015.
Now that I have a forever home, I have made myself comfortable. When I'm not being silly, or greeting my humans when they come home, or barking at home appliances and instruments, or spying on people, or playing with my rope, or going outside, or giving kisses, or eating out of my Kong, or being undeniably cute, I enjoy sleeping...
I even fall asleep when I'm supposed to be doing my perimeter checks at the front window!

Katie here...if you don't know what the Vashta Nerada are, then go here...it's a Doctor Who reference. Yup, Emmie is a Doctor fan too. That's the real reason why we adopted her ;)

- I think Emmie has finally accepted our home as hers...and it only took about 3 weeks. She seems more independent and less stressed. Today is her 4 week-a-versary of being adopted and finding her forever home :)
- I was mentioned on another blog! This is always extremely flattering and makes this blogging thing seem worthwhile :) Go to Tyrean's blog @Everyday Writer, Tryrean Martinson and check out her post! And try not to laugh too hard when she calls me a lady :)

I really enjoy sitting on the bench at the front of the house and looking out the window. From here, I can see the neighbors and bark at them accordingly. This spot even allows me to see when my human brother and sister are coming home!

If you've never heard of a Kong, and you have a dog, then you should definitely get one for your furbaby. My Kong is my favorite chew toy. My mommy fills it with all different kinds of treats. I love when she puts yogurt in there or a frozen pumpkin treat. Yum!
What is your favorite toy or treat?

A favorite pastime of mine is chillin out on my human's sun porch. I'm allowed to lay on the couches out there, so I usually lay wherever I can catch the most rays. Dogs need sunshine and Vitamin D too!

Celebrate The Small Things -- April 10

decided to post about something worth celebrating...no matter how big
or small it is. I am thrilled to co-host this wonderful bloghop!
This week I'm celebrating:
- we left Emmie for the first time alone in the house and she did pretty well. I've noticed over the past few weeks that she has slight separation anxiety. She follows me everywhere...even waits outside the bathroom door while I shower :) She has real anxiety when it comes to the crate, so we've kept the door off of it and let her go in and out at her discretion. So locking her in the crate while we left her alone wasn't an option. We were gone for almost 2.5 hours and came back to our home intact. She looked so scared when we came home and actually peed a little bit when we first came in. I think it was submissive peeing. This was her first accident in the house! Poor girl...I think she was really frightened that we left her for good :( We gave her lots of extra love and attention for the rest of the day.
- almost two weeks into the A to Z Challenge and all is going well!
- my mobility is getting better day by day! I've been able to do light housework for the past couple of weeks...load the dishwasher, do laundry, vacuum (a room at a time).
- the forecast for the weekend is sunny and the high 60's! My favorite weather!

Since coming to my new home, I've met a lot of new people. The other day, my new human brother had one of his friends come over with his puppy, Bella. I think Bella was a little intimidated by my size at first, but she warmed up to me and we had fun smelling my backyard. I can't wait to have another puppy play date with her!

Easily Distracted
An A to Z Challenge from the point
of view of the newest member of the family...Emmie is a 4-ish year
old pit bull mix that we rescued on March 20, 2015.
While on a walk the other day, I saw a
bird and tried my very best to get it, but didn't get far since the
humans insist that I walk on a leash. But in my excitement, I got
distracted from walking and went chest first into a fire hydrant!
Why do the humans put those things right in the middle of the walking
path?
Anyway, my plan to hunt down one of
those birds is still on. One day...
